Brings ends to 16-year career
Brings ends to 16-year career

The Scoop: Selected by the Bulls with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, Rose immediately established himself as one of the game's top point guards. After claiming Rookie of the Year honors, Rose took home league MVP honors as a 22-year-old during his third season in 2010-11, becoming the youngest player in league history to win the award. Unfortunately for Rose, that 2010-11 campaign would prove to be his peak, with a torn ACL suffered during the 2012 playoffs and a meniscus injury suffered in November 2013 costing him nearly two full seasons and significantly altering the trajectory of his career. Rose never made another All-Star team after suffering the two major injuries, but the 35-year-old still turned in a productive 16-year career and was often a productive secondary scoring options across his stops with the Bulls, Knicks, Cavaliers, Timberwolves, Pistons and Grizzlies. Rose had been under contract with the Grizzlies heading into the 2024-25 season, but he requested his release earlier this week so that he could officially head into retirement.
